I get asked this question a lot, so instead of my writing it to each of you, I thought, heck.... put it here for all to see. For cleansing....I keep a pretty energetically cleared house so don't find it necessary to clear them much. Any event in one's home, if unpleasant, angry, etc....can disrupt them. However, once in awhile, when led by them to do so, I will put them under water. Rarely anymore do I use salt, or just a wee bit, as it is quite harsh, and I don't find it necessary.
Once in a while, for a real treat, I might put a few on a window sill under a full moon. But beware the sun - though it is an intense cleanser and healer, it can fade out your beautiful amethysts, carnelians and citrines and more! Don't let that happen! The color will not come back.
Now if I use a stone or crystal for a specific purpose, I DO cleanse it well, set my intention in collaboration with the stone's intelligence, THEN after it has done the job, so to speak, I will RECLEAR it as necessary. I've worked with dirt, salt, water, reiki (works great) and other healing techniques for my stones......and I've found over all these years that I've worked with my precious minerals that they are very capable of telling me how to care for them.
That's part of the relationship I have with them, and they're happy to talk to you, too.... When they woke me up (back in 1999) and told me to create pendants "their way" well, I did....and the rest is history.
